DeShawn Stevenson was born on the 3rd April 1981, in Fresno, California USA, and is a retired professional basketball player, who spent 13 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), playing for such teams as the Utah Jazz (2000-2004), Washington Wizards (2005-2010), Dallas Mavericks (2010-2011), and Atlanta Hawks (2012-2013). His career started in 2000 and ended in 2013.
Have you ever wondered how rich DeShawn Stevenson is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources it has been estimated that Stevenson’s net worth is as high as $10 million, earned through his successful NBA career, during which he became a champion in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks.
DeShawn is the son of Darryl Stevenson, who never married DeShawn’s mother, and was forced to pay child support to her, until he died of cancer at the age of 36. Because of the unfortunate events in the family, DeShawn lived with his godparents in Easton, California. He went to Washington Union High School where he started playing basketball, and in his junior year they won state championship. As he got older, DeShawn became better and better and in his senior high school year committed to Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas University basketball team, but his SAT score rendered him ineligible for the University, so after averaging 30.4 points, 9.7 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game, in his final school year, which earned him McDonald’s All-American honors, he declared for the NBA 2000 draft, and was selected as the 23rd pick by the Utah Jazz.
In his debut season in the NBA, DeShawn played in 40 games, two of which were starts. He was on the court for just a bit over 7 minutes, which was enough only for 2.2 points per game. He played for the Jazz until the 2003-2004 half season and his numbers improved with each season; in 2003-2004 he averaged 11.4 points in the 54 games he played, in all of them he was in starting five. At the half of the 2003-2004 season, Stevenson was traded to the Orlando Magic alongside the rights to a second round pick for Gordan Giricek.
He continued with decent performance in Orlando, averaging around 11.0 points in the two and a half seasons he spent there. After Orlando, he signed a two-year minimum contract with the Washington Wizards, increasing his net worth, later extending the contract and playing for them until 2010. In his final two years with the Wizards, his numbers began to decline and as a result he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks.
His luck smiled on him when in the 2011 NBA Finals, he helped the Mavericks defeat Miami Heat with nine points in the sixth game of the series.
After Mavericks, he signed a contract with the New Jersey Nets, which only increased further his net worth, and then spent a year playing for the Atlanta Hawks, before he decided to retire.
Regarding his personal life, DeShawn has two children with Ariane Williams, and although being engaged the two broke it off before the wedding.
Also, back in 2014, DeShawn was engaged to fitness coach Jessica Marie, however, further details are unknown to the media.
